The
second test match was scheduled to be at held in Trafford,
which began, on 26th of July. But this time, India had a limited
strength. Lala Amarnath - the most eminent figure in Indian
team returned back due to some serious disputes with the team
management. He was in peak form then as he already scored
two centuries against Essex. Meanwhile, the internal politics
in the team management as well as Amarnath's withdrawal generated
a massive rage among the Indian cricket lovers.

However,
India won the toss & chose to bat in the first innings.
They managed to constitute a respectable total of 203.
But, a mountainous 571 haul by the host nation emerged
to be a tough shot for the visitors. The Indian hope
flew high with two spectacular centuries by Vijay Merchant
(114) Mustaq Al (112) well supported by Ramaswami (60)
& Amar Singh (48). They scored 390 runs in the second
innings & the match ended in a draw.

of August. Here, England batted first & scored an electrifying
471 with a magnificent double century by Hammond (217). Worthington
who contributed 128 runs to score his first test century appeared
to be quite supportive in this innings. However, they successfully
stunted the Indian aspiration, which ended in 222 runs in
the second innings. The two openers, Merchant (52) & Mustaq
(52) were the only exception to build up resistance. On the
16th of August, India forced to follow on, but with brave
efforts of Dilwar Hussain (54) & an unforgettable (81)
by C.K Naidu, they added 312 runs to the scoreboard. Finally
England wrapped up the match by 9 wickets & the series
by
2-0.
