Here
is another short tour that you can make at the week
end. It could be one night and two day tour that could
start on Saturday morning and ends at the night of Sunday.
Ghatshila is a renowned tourist spot about 170 kilometer
away from Kolkata. There are many trains from Kolkata
of them most comfortable is Ispat Express that leaves
Howrah at 0635 in the morning. It is 3.5 hour journey
from Kolkata and you will reach Ghatshila by around
1010 hours.

|
On arrival at Ghatshila, move to a tourist lodge, have rest,
have lunch and set out to go for Burudih lake and then on to
a little fountain bit away from Burudih Lake. There is boating
arrangement available at the Lake. The fountain is unique because
of the atmosphere all around. You can see the habitats of the
Santhals on your way.

Finish
this part of tour by 5 in the afternoon and move on to
Subarnarekha River side near Galudih which is around1
5 km from Ghatsila. Ratmohona is a very famous place for
witnessing the sunrise and sunset. It is equally interesting
seeing the moonlight at night by the side of the river
Subarnarekha. Hence choose your tour on a full moon day.
But do not stay till late night. Get back to hotel at
Ghatshila. While coming back from Ratmohona, you will
have to cross a barrage built over river Subarnarekha.
The illuminated bridge over the barrage of the

is very enchanting. You can also stay at the Government
Tourist Lodge at Galudih which is comparatively calm and
quiet. Have rest at night. |
|

|
Next
morning leave hotel after breakfast and move onto the
jungle of Satkhira (crossing seven small rivers), climb
on the forest at an altitude of about 2000 ft where
wild elephants move around very frequently. Reach the
zenith of the hill and find the temple of the tribes
where you need to climb up the stair for about 500 feet.
The entire tour will take around 4 hours time to and
fro Ghatshila. Come back to hotel, have rest. Bath,
and lunch. Rest for

a while sitting in the terrace of the hotel looking
at the dense forest and the hills of Maubhandar where
lies the famous copper mines.
In
the afternoon, get ready to catch Ispat Express that
arrives at Ghatshila at 4.05 pm. You are back at Howrah
Railway Station by 0840 pm. The short two days tour
will remain in your memory for long.
