| About THIRD EYE |
|
It all started with a vision, a vision to promote straight photography. This vision was realized with the formation of THIRD EYE, a Kolkata-based photography organisation founded by the famous lensman, Mr. Atanu Paul. This organisation today has a membership of five hundred like-minded photography enthusiasts from Kolkata and its surrounding areas. All their photographs are contextually related to the lighter side of life such as festivals, cultural events, famous personalities to the more serious and to subjects closer to reality like natural calamities, commentary on the political scenario and so on. This organisation is supported by a rather young group whose average age is 30 to 35 years. The organisation has been regularly taking part in National and International Exhibitions and Salons and has also been successful in them. Apart from being the first Indian photography club on the net, THIRD EYE has been also the first organisation to launch a Bengali monthly on photography. Books on cinema, drama, literature are also a few of the other areas where this club has ventured into and has been fairly successful. A carefully planned schedule ensures that the group organises a four full day outing every month for its members from Kolkata to the interior parts to show interested people life in the Bengali countryside portrayed through the photographs of its members. THIRD EYE also accepts photography assignments on various subjects. A course is also organised on photography and its appreciation. The members of THIRD EYE are also professionally well-placed with many of them working in the local press, television, ad agencies, etc. Apart from holding regular addas(club meetings), organising seminars, exhibitions, workshops, inter-organisation photography contests, the club has also carefully planned out a strategy to promote photography culture in Bengal and other states of India. To show you some of our works to the already informed photography lovers browsing the net, we have exhibited some of our photographs in these web pages and we would greatly appreciate your comments on them and your ideas for improving our organisation. To relieve you of monotony, we shall change our all exhibited photographs every three months. |
